From beyond the grave

(for emica)

sunrise.jpg

     Fitzroy Crossing (Over)

the sun,
shines its light on me today
warmer than morning sex

daffodil yellow
breaking through the grey clouds
that hover at the back of my brain

today,
something is cooking...
salty porridge brings a smile
to the hardest faces in Fitzroy
they crack with a glint, like half-set clay

today,
at the gates of sacred heart
“fill our cups with joy"
and i will lick my plate clean,
smiling rays of golden sunshine
after months of ‘black Alaskan snow’

colours pop out of shadows
like jack-in-the-box clowns,
smiling grotesquely
with running makeup,
stripped bare of their shackles...

the sun
shines on me today
and all that pass shall feel/see me beaming
daffodil yellow and the smell
of fresh baby skin...

my breathing now long and deep
like smiles that seep slowly out,
as long as Brunswick St

and if this is to be the last poem i ever write
it was worth every soggy page
and every dead body i’ve stepped over

i hadn’t noticed before today
the sky
had ever bled this blue ..

the sun...
this morning...
She shines exquisite daffodil yellow...

* Love poem (for J)
by emica Friday, Feb 5 2010, 8:41pm

part of my soul was taken today,
torn from my vitality with force,
lost to the place some call ‘heaven.’

i am left with a gut full of unease,
like a socket without an eyeball.
empty, longing, not seeing as i should.

i admired your body today,
it wasn't how i remember you.
i remember your soul, warm;
your embrace, genuine and nurturing.
your lips full and red,
your teeth, i loved the gaps between each one.
your wise blue eyes, and
child-like innocence, so vulnerable and sensitive.

the pain aches and hurts deep within my
being -- i miss you.

today when you left and the pigeons were set free,
the hurt was profound, worse than ever before.
i still cannot accept it, i know i will meet you again.
my first true love, forever in my heart.

You asked if i was happy?
happiness is found within, i am working on loving myself.
it’s hard for me knowing what is right
and living in a sick world where evil triumphs over good;
yet, as you say, beauty is everywhere,
i know love is All (we have).

we are One, one big mass of energy,
some particles vibrating slower than others
creating different states.

The part we will never explain is
the reason we live and love, the sunshine, the stars;
no one knows why we are here.

i remember that night in your bed
our talks would take us out of reality and into our own special place.
it's difficult saying these words when society would condemn my thoughts --
i am in love with someone else!

though i believe (know) love is not conditional,
i believe we can love many souls.
we had something special, nothing can take that away.
i am happy you found your voice,
and others can share your thoughts, our thoughts.
i know you are safe.

i love you ...
