Hypocrites and Christians

it seems most Christians
have selective vision
or are they just plain hypocrites?

how could anyone miss Jesus’
detestation of wealth
and temporal power in the NT
-- a dislike he shared
with Buddha, who also
turned his back
on wealth and temporal power?

why is it easier for a camel
to go through the eye of a needle
(an impossibility) than for
a rich man to enter paradise?

it is clearly outlined in the
opening chapters
of the Gospel of Luke.

The temptation scenario depicts
the protagonist, Christ, tussling
with the antagonist, Lucifer --
and what is clearly spelled out?

when Satan fails to trick
Christ into compromising his integrity
he pulls the last card he has
and shows Jesus all the capitals
of the world and their power, wealth
and opulence and offers it all
in exchange for allegiance.

Christ, maintaining his integrity
throughout, rejects the offer;
it’s spelled out in the beginning
and end of the narrative.

Jesus makes his final statement
regarding money and bankers
by violently ejecting money changers
from the Temple.

Blind Freddy and lobotomised Annie
couldn’t miss the message but
American Evangelicals, Roman Catholics
and a host of other Christian sects
ignore the obvious -- to their enormous cost.

Need I mention that according
to the teachings of Jesus
every deed and thought
has consequences/a price?
Or should we review the NT
again
to appreciate exactly how Christ
viewed liars and what he thought
of Hypocrites?

[Note, I am not religious
in the least but a good narrative
about a revolutionary social reformer
is hard to resist.
The NT was written by men for men,
it is very clear in its anti-establishment
message. Ignore it at your peril!
