Going Underground
by ryall Tuesday, Jun 26 2012, 12:12pm
international / poetry / post

with powder and plot

Guy Fawkes mask
Guy Fawkes mask

Everything that begins,
ends …
which is why infinity
is so appealing,
it has no beginning
therefore no end
(and we are rhyming again
without the slightest intent.)

Diminishing human resources have
forced the decision
not-with-standing,
there is nothing appealing
to keep us above;
unless you have a taste for treason,
mass murder, plunder and crime.

The tortuous madness
of paralysed masses
is enough to make you numb.

So it's underground
to kindred spirits, sanity
and camaraderie we go
where every action
against vile cabals delivers
another weakening blow.

Targeting criminal leaders
that approve indefinite detention,
summary executions, war,
invasion and pillage
is a justified and necessary fight;
death to the avaricious pigs
that bomb, steal
and murder in the night.

Is it enough to eliminate a puppet President
that considers personal ‘murder lists’
a badge of honour, a sign of respect?
Should we stop at one
or clean the entire ‘Street’
of vermin and filth?

The common dwellers above
-- confronting their demise --
remain incapable
of the slightest action
to safeguard the lives
of those they love.

So we bid farewell to beautiful losers;
the dead are buried by the dead in turn.
We return to love, cooperation,
sharing and joy --
to the realm of genuine human kindness.

It is time for us to go,
we depart from those
devoid of heart/volition
tolerant spectators of crime and corruption
they that view all manner of crimes against humanity
with blank complacency and zero compassion.

We leave you with a verse of old
a plot, gunpowder and a night to remember:

Remember, Remember, the fifth of November (full unedited version)

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
the Gunpowder Treason and Plot,

I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent to blow up King and Parliament.

Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s mercy he was catch’d with a dark lantern and lighted match.

Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

Hip hip hoorah!

A penny loaf to feed the Pope
A farthing o’ cheese to choke him.

A pint of beer to rinse it down.
A faggot of sticks to burn him.

Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.

Burn his body from his head.
Then we’ll say ol’ Pope is dead.

Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah hoorah!

i have always enjoyed the poetry on this site, sorry to see u all go. so i take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the trouble in what is essentially a thankless task - spreading truth and sensitivity in a morally and spiritually bankrupt world.

intended or not, u have highlighted the fact that the US is a morally bankrupt, loveless society ruled by fear and aggression -- it is the exact opposite of what it pretends to be.

best of luck to you all for the future.

America: A very well known quantity
by jeff Saturday, Jun 30 2012, 12:25am

It is amusing at times to read all the ‘outraged’ discourse relating to Syria and Iran from various commentators and analysts, but wherefore the outrage -- the international community is extremely familiar with the American character and the media/propaganda LIES that issue like sewage from its State and Corporate media apparatuses?

What has changed in America since Ben Franklin asserted that “time is money?” Give philosophy and existence a break, time is the cycles of the heavens, the passing of the seasons, the flowering of life, the spinning planet, the PULSE of CREATION itself; however (CLEARLY) what time is NOT, is fuckin’ money! But as is evident today the above cyclic reality, which is actual time, does not apply in the USA, where not only time but EVERYTHING -- in every pathological, PERVERSE sense of that twisted perception -- is reduced to a monetary ‘value.’

The searing REALITY of the perverse and highly destructive American ideology, which dates back to the formation of the nation and the founding fathers is CLEAR: America is avaricious, rapacious, polluting, exploitative, and (militarily) expansionist – so what’s new morons, commentators and others that should know better?

Read your own history, it’s spelled out; the slaughter and elimination of the rightful owners of the land, native Americans, the establishment of military outposts -- forts or bases of occupation -- to consolidate captured, STOLEN, territory and the ensuing rape of everything that could be exploited. Observe the exact same rustic – kill and steal -- American approach today except on a global scale!

America is nothing if not CONSISTENT, yet some commentators are 'shocked and outraged’ over the military expansionism and exploitation of weaker nations. Wake up dreamboats, there is nothing new relating to the American ideology.

However, there is something very new regarding the forces and elements that oppose that perverse and clearly destructive ideology.

While native Americans were no match for the rapacious, murdering pig American invaders, various global powers TODAY are able to reduce the PIG to irradiated bacon [in the interests of all life on earth, I wouldn’t hesitate; America is a DISEASE that not only threatens the sovereignty of nations, it threatens the entire ecosphere and all life on earth. Rampant exploitation of finite resources for the obscene profits of the few, is simply I-N-S-A-N-E!

Now count the number of American military bases around the globe and take a good look at the criminal Banker/Corporate elites that benefit from the EXTREME hardship and suffering the American ideology causes others and unless you are a sick American, you too would not hesitate to press the button on that DISEASE and remove it from the face of the earth.

Russia and China will be forced to accept their responsibility soon enough, as America has no intention of sharing anything. Regardless of how many other nations remove the shackles of American colonialism and join the fight against the psychopathic, marauding, mass murdering beast – the imperative/decision to nuke is INEVITABLE.

The only chance of a reprieve is if psychopathic America regains its sanity – a highly unlikely possibility.

Now read the following dissociative discourse and wonder no more why the situation is far from an internal cure:

Time for Regime Change in the USA
by Rodney Shakespeare -- June 29, 2012

With breath-taking arrogance, the USA is opposing the presence of Iran at the discussions about Syria in Geneva.

Turkey - now openly playing the sectarian card and deliberately causing a Phantom jet to fly in fast and low in order to provoke a reaction and so involve NATO - can be present. The USA - supplying arms to al-Qaeda; organizing Salafists, Wahhabists and death squads; broadcasting lying propaganda - can be present. Russia and China can be present. But not Iran.

Yet Iran has political, religious and cultural links with the Alawite (Shia sect) government of Syria. Iran is the one country - not the USA, not Russia, not China, not Turkey, Saudi Arabia or Qatar - which can have frank talks with Syria. Iran is the one country which Syria can trust as understanding its situation. And Iran is the only country which can give hope of avoiding a civil war bloodbath, at the very least, or a probable decade-long regional war.

But Iran is not to be at Geneva because the USA, riddled with bigotry and an example of Ancient Greek hubris if there ever was one, hates any country which wants to be independent. It particularly hates Iran. Indeed, so extreme is the hatred that anything (including war) can be done to achieve regime change in Tehran. It is therefore no surprise that, at all times, the USA quickly side-lines democracy and justice if there is any likelihood that Iran might be involved in the solution. And just to spell out the point, in Syria, the USA is co-operating with Saudi Arabia - a vicious, totalitarian tyranny supplying guns and money - and with Qatar - an anti-democratic country, supplying guns and money.

Furthermore, bent on regime change in Syria, the USA is comprehensively ignoring the Kofi Annan Peace Plan just as the referendum and election held by Syria are also being ignored. When the USA wants regime change, anything goes - particularly the torturing and slaughter of Shia women and children which, by twisting the facts to their opposite, are blamed on the government when they were really the work of the American-backed Wahhabi and NATO death squads who, when not killing, like to ransack Christian churches.

Nor is Iran banned only from a solution for Syria. It is also banned from the solution for Afghanistan. Iran is next to Afghanistan. It has linguistic, religious, cultural and trading links with Afghanistan. If ever there was a country which can talk to all parties in Afghanistan, it is Iran. However, the USA - full of self-important haughtiness and the major cause of the problem - determines that Iran can never be part of the solution and, by doing so, condemns Afghanistan to many more years of misery.

Yet the world is turning: change is afoot and Russia, wanting Iran to be at Geneva, is one of the countries which is not only sensing the change but is actively doing something about it. Right the way round the globe countries are quietly banding together. They can do so because they are directly experiencing a decline in the economic and political power of the USA. On top of which the USA’s moral authority went out of the window long ago so countries are quietly plotting a new course for themselves - one which involves breaking free from Western hegemony. Thus the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation brings together Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and others, with India, Pakistan and Iran as observer members. China and Japan have decided to trade in their own currencies and not the dollar - there’s a sign of the times! And in South America a number of countries are beginning to band together to run their own international bank (the Banco del Sud) thus causing the diminution of American financial and political influence.

Indeed, the amazing thing is that the USA is completely failing to see what is going on. It was completely caught off balance by the Arab Spring so perhaps it is not surprising that it does not understand that it is hated more than it knows; that its traditional mixture of bullying, bribery and attack are not quite as impressive as it thinks; and that, in short, others are fed up with a short-sighted arrogance and even more short-sighted stupidity which is always prepared to go to war (even if that means that the USA is now virtually bankrupt because of its military spending).

All in all, it’s time for all sensible people and all sensible countries (there’s quite a lot of them) to consciously question any assertion by the USA that this or that regime is at fault and needs to be overthrown. Instead all sensible people and countries should start to say that the world is fed up with war-mongering as well as angry at the Wall Street machinations which are destroying the world economy.

Then the way will be opened for impressing on the American people what the situation really requires - regime change in the USA.

Investment Opportunities in America's new Mafia State, Kosovo
by Igor Siletsky and Blokhin Timur via reed - Voice of Russia Saturday, Jun 30 2012, 11:40am

True, the majority of investors are Americans who bore a relation to the “democratization” of Yugoslavia that was carried out at the end of the 90s of the last century. Among them is the former commander of NATO forces in Kosovo retired general Wesley Clark, who is determined to invest more than 5.5 billion dollars in the former Yugoslav republic. Experts say that Washington’s strategy could be characterized by the following slogan: “Conquer and plunder”.

His closest supporters say that Wesley Clark is a great strategist. He wrote the book “Winning Modern Wars” that was published in 2001. In his fundamental survey the author mentions the Pentagon’s list of countries that can be regarded as candidates for a quick change of leadership. On that list are Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, and Somalia. Yugoslavia was not mentioned there because by that time the undesirable regime of Slobodan Milosevic had been overthrown with the help of precision and carpet bombings.

By the way, shortly after the Kosovo operation the tired general - Wesley Clark - retired and immediately got involved in the banking business. As it appears, he invested all his savings that he had accumulated as general, receiving from 150 to 200,000 dollars annually, in the banking business. Because of that he had to earn additional money, working as a military analyst on U.S. TV channels. However, he did not lose his contacts with Kosovo, where, following the previously mentioned democratization, entrepreneurship, especially, in the field of medicine, was on the rise. And now the Envidity Company that is in Clark’s ownership has filed a request for coal mining to the Kosovo authorities. Serbia that does not recognize Kosovo’s independence says that it is determined to demand protection for the natural resources belonging to it. Nobody wants to ask for Belgrade’s permission though as was the case many times before.

Wesley Clark always had good contacts with the Kosovo “government” and its “prime minister” – the former militant Hashim Thaci. There is even a street in Pristina named after Wesley Clark. By the way, a Russian political analyst and retired colonel-general Leonid Ivashov at the trial of Slobodan Milosevic mentioned the allied character of relations between the NATO troops and the militants of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). As we can see, this cooperation has borne fruit, including both political and economic benefits, a Serbian journalist, Nikola Vrzic, says.

"It is clear that during their “cooperation” that started in 1998, they concluded business agreements. Now it is absolutely clear that the bombings of Kosovo pursued both political and economic objectives: they were aimed not only at annexing Kosovo from Serbia, but also at depriving Kosovo of its extensive natural resources. As it appears, coal is Kosovo’s main resource. Geologists say that there are other minerals there too. More prospecting for natural resources is needed there."

Against the background of instability on the oil market, experts talk more and more often about good prospects for the development of synthetic fuel, including obtaining synthetic fuel from coal. Clark’s firm believes that it is possible to produce up to 100,000 barrels of the new source of energy daily.

The economic motives of NATO’s military games are actually not a secret. Of interest here is the fact that in the middle of the 1990s, at the very height of the fratricidal war in Yugoslavia, the NATO countries’ citizens bought property in the Balkan republic. Buyers were making preparations for a new “post-Yugoslav” reality. And Kosovo was a good training ground, an expert with the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Pavel Kandel, said in an interview with the Voice of Russia.

"Kosovo created a precedent. It was the first link in the strategy of the “humanitarian” interventions of the NATO countries led by the USA. Shortly before the Kosovo operation, at the urgent request of Washington, NATO adopted a new doctrine, which set a number of tasks beyond defence limits before the member-states of the formerly defensive bloc. To be more exact, the possibility of interference in other regions of the world under this or that pretext became possible."

The strategy that was used earlier can be used again. Coal mining is very good but oil still has a good price. So everything continued, following the former format: Iraq, Somalia, and Libya. Something has gone wrong with Syria though. Damascus wants to develop democracy without humanitarian aid from the West. There are problems with Iran too. But economic strategists have enough patience: investor-generals are ready for investing at any time.

Departure
by vy Tuesday, Jul 10 2012, 12:38pm

it is not the sun whispering
this dawn,
rising
slowly expiring with each new day

it is a wisp of wind that punctuates
the flow of existence
interrupting it briefly
to record a departure in the akasha
a voyage to destinations unknown;
no man, woman, child or dog
have gathered for this event.

water pings down valley walls
birds whip their throated
calls in accompaniment
but no musician plays a haunting dirge
this clean morn.

who was it that was but is no more?
no name, visage or ghostly silhouette,
no trace, nothing to remember this passing.

distant thunder over the horizon;
perhaps a sign of re-cognition
an announcement, a loud
farewell
but no-one is present to record the event
or retain a memory.

does it matter?
only to the living, as the dead
have more pressing concerns.

this dawn is crowded,
overflowing life
creating a curtain of activity
behind which a single cessation
passes unnoticed.

the sky is fast today
clouds stretched thin,
high in the frozen blue
deceptively appearing motionless
from the ground.

it is time to move on
and continue with the day
down to the billabong
to shave;

i stoop to wet my face yet
i cast no reflection
in the water this morning,
how strange.

Foment
by jalal Thursday, Jul 12 2012, 12:19pm

the sky
infused with smoky light
from an unseen (rising) sun
signals the approaching dawn,
a promise of blazing light
that obliterates
every vestige of darkness
and night.

caterpillars become butterflies
or moths though no hint of which
is evident prior to metamorphoses;

rebel poets sow revolution
weaving words below the horizon,
undetected by the herd
but eagerly captured
by passionate hearts,
fiery spirits
and fertile minds.

conditions for change
and permanent revolution
begin to take form.

truth dispels lies
as effortlessly as the sun
eradicates night
and illuminates the darkest
recesses.

["Whenever the Dharma is threatened
I incarnate" -- Vishnu.]

flames of social discontent grow into
raging infernos in the hearts
of men,
unjust social circumstances
begin to deliver
new meaning
new patterns
appropriate for the times;

constellations collide in the sky
and discord predominates
in the affairs of men.

fear and inaction
are replaced by active forces
for justice, equality and fair play.

poets continue to encode resonant
messages below and above the horizon.

Resurrection
by Kazi Nazrul Islam trans. Syed Mujibul Huq Thursday, Jul 12 2012, 12:53pm

Wake up
You captives of hunger, arise.
You harassed, down-trodden masses,
Spell thunder at the oppressors -
The stirred voices of the sufferers cry.

A new world reborn is soon to dawn.
These fetters of ancient scriptures
Wrought this utter ruin;
Come, let us break in,
Shattering the devil's dungeon.

Wake up,
Ye, hapless masses, arise,
So that no 'one beneath
The feet of others lies.

On a new foundation
A young world shall dawn.
Listen, you tyrant!
Listen, you rich!
Though destitute,
Through the war,

Our rights
We shall recover
With the unity of sufferers
All the world over.

Identity
by sylph Monday, Jul 16 2012, 12:25am

i never carry ID,
i have never doubted or questioned
my existence;
but the State demands ‘identifying’
papers, licences, passports etc;
it prefers documents
over the INTEGRITY of a living person –
such perversity.

easily fabricated inert paper and plastic cards
carry more weight/authority today
than a living sentient being --
wonder no more why States
no longer respect/represent the people.

in my youth i was often asked
what i wanted to be,
my response was always the same,
“i already am what i want to be”
(i would have thought that obvious)
however, it seems others
cannot take a person at ‘face-to-face’ value,
they (also) require ‘fake’ ID as proof of bona fides,
State issued social ‘locators,’
‘meaningful’ identifiers.

the State claims it derives its authority
from the people yet it steadfastly refuses
to acknowledge the sovereignty
of individuals, preferring instead to
regard the people as ‘subjects’
identified and tagged like cattle and sheep.

should we bemoan today’s
horrid political realities?
it was entirely predictable that
States would become entities/powers
unto themselves,
ruling over rather than for the people.

surely,
it is to be expected
that a State which refuses to acknowledge
who and what we are
would one day view the population as the enemy,
a threat to be monitored, subject to indefinite detention
and locked down.

identifying a person by his/her
slave status/vocation
rather than by individual human qualities
is a gross perversity imposed by those who
would create a subservient work(slave)force –
we are who we are,
what we ‘do’ at any given time
varies according to numerous factors.

how is it that OUR leaders openly indulge their criminality
with ‘kill lists’ targeting people THEY dislike
without proper, LEGAL oversight --
who do our leaders really serve/represent?

why is it Bankers and Corporate CEOs
are able to commit massive frauds and other crimes
with impunity?

attempting to locate all citizens, persons or groups
somewhere in a predefined, mapped and
controlled social space
should warrant ‘some’ justification/investigation,
don’t YOU think?

the State is no longer our friend
that is abundantly CLEAR today;
we are denied due process,
we are monitored, contained and murdered
without charge or trial,
need we elaborate further?

[we]

who are WE?
we are the unknown, untraceable, Uber elite –
we are the worst nightmare of criminal States
and corporate cabals.
do your best against us coz you are going down,
and you know it.

the breath u feel on ur vile, murdering, criminal necks
is the cold, impartial breath of Justice/Retribution!

Leaders quintessentially reflect the true ethos of their respective nations. The truth about sociopathic America has just been revealed

A warning from George Orwell
