Sugar and Spice

i always fall in love
with my expectations
and then discover that reality
is a gross disappointment

hardly surprising
but then i’m a woman
and tho reality enjoys
kicking me in the teeth
i continue searching
and deluding myself
that one day i’ll find
the man of my dreams

if i don’t
i can always superimpose
my dreams and desires
onto the postman
