digital florescence on tiny screens,
lighting up distractions,
embedded with self-loathing, insecurity,
vanity and fake gratification,
are u ‘liked?’

looking always at self, ur own reflection -
selfies are simply narcissistic infections;
Instagram, Facebook and the rest
are the diseases of the age

cultivating profiles, creating a digital encyclopaedia
for ‘others’ to read -
enslaved youth starving for acceptance/appreciation,
yet too often it ends in alienation and depression.

‘likes’ and ‘follows,’ feel good pills,
but don’t stop scrolling, it’s better than television
just remember it’s your decision…
is it wrong or right or good or bad?
it’s just the way it is and its rather sad,
as life goes on in the real world of interaction,
expansion and satisfaction

follow the mindless, soul-less digital crowd,
just another dazed drone
or be left to walk alone,

or on ur feet
